Service Ministry
Mission Statement
The purpose of the service ministry is to reach out to others. We are directed in scripture to serve. Matthew 25: 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. 40 Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

Mission Trips
In 2011 Mission team sent 8 youth and 9 adult volunteers to serve for a week in Harlan, Kentucky. The team helped with a variety of home repair projects including roofing, plumbing and deck building. Four volunteers work at a day center providing art classes for the mentally ill patients. We are planning a return trip to Harlan, Ky - July 9-14, 2012.
To raise funds for outreach work projects and trips, the Mission Team held 2 fundraisers – the February Dinner and Silent Auction, the September Rummage Sale. The dinner and auction raised $4,862 and the rummage sale raised $2,011.
The next fundraiser is a Dinner and Silent Auction on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the church.
Habitat for Humanity
RLC was a sponsor church for Habitat for Humanity’s Faith Build in Lebanon. RLC mission fund donated $500 to the project that began in June. 35 Mission team volunteers worked two Saturdays at the house and Paul Wilson volunteered every week.
The house was built for the Randy Fields family, and it was dedicated in November.
The final touches for the house are being done in January. On Jan. 28, a team will clean inside the house while another team will assemble and roof the shed.
Helping Hands
The Mission team offers home repairs to the congregation members through the Helping Hands ministry. 20 adult and youth helping hands completed home repairs. As an offering for the work, members donated more than $2,500 for mission outreach in 2011. Mission team and JHM teamed up to complete a service project at First Lutheran Church in Over-the-Rhine. Ten youth and eight adults worked together to paint the social hall in the church basement and the hallway and stairwell.
